Sources in and around Midlothian tell me that Paula Baucum, the 2004 mayoral candidate, former Midlothian councilwoman, current member of the Mid-Way Regional Airport and most recently, the president of the Ellis County Republican Women's group, will be running countywide next year.
Considering that most of everyone has GOP Chair Rusty Ballard going for treasurer, look for Baucum to vie for the tax collector post. These are rumors, but they are from very reliable sources in Midlothian...she'll win it too. No word on whether or not John Bridges plans to retire or run for re-election.
Dallas County Sheriff Deputy Looking at Commissioner Precinct 3 or County Office
Not sure of his name as of yet, but a Dallas County sheriff deputy from Midlothian is looking at either the precinct 3 commissioner's race (vs. incumbent Heath Sims), or a countywide post. Sheriff has been ruled out, according to one of my sources. If incumbent Sheriff Ray Stewart runs for another term, he'll be invincible.

See if we can find out this potential candidates name because we definitely need someone to replace him...does anyone remember last year when the commisioners voted themselves $10k/year raise and stated that next year they would take care of the employees? Rumor has it the 3.5% COLA raise is now 2% if that. IMAGINE THAT!!! Doesn't add up to being right....
