Ennis Top Cop Under Investigation
So when a top police department official looking at say, the open City Marshal's position (Chief Dale Holt recently retired) suddenly resigns amid an investigation into "borrowing video equipment without permission," you can rest assured that there's a bigger story under the surface. The Ennis Daily News is reporting that Dave Smith has resigned for abusing city video equipment. Expect an open records request seeking all of the information that Smith has on his off-duty police time video camera. That'll be interesting...
There are swirling rumors that Smith, who helped cover up the case of the Ennis Regional Medical Center doctor who abused 20+ victims (the doctor told The Dallas Morning News last year he accidently rubbed himself on a patient and in turn, spilled semen on her face) a couple of years ago, was involved in all sorts of mysterious matters. Wonder what Waxahachie Daily Light editor JoAnn Livingston's (ex?) lova Ennis Lt. Ron Roark knows. There's more to this story, folks, there's just more to it...
Wonder if this could also have anything to do with the routine major drug busts Chief Holt used for pre-re-election photo ops? Ennis PD was known for running drugs in and throughout the eastern half of Ellis County in the 70s -- look it up, it's documented thoroughly.
History repeats itself perhaps, or is it just more cover-ups?

Alzheimer’s?
As a taxpaying citizen of Ellis County and Ennis more specifically, I love this information. Almost every person at the EPD has a history of, or past incidents they would rather forget. The major point I want to make here is that these "humans" we call "police officers" make mistakes. "To err is human." Ever so prophetic. The problem is, though not with this incident, as it is just plain degrading, we allow these "humans" to carry a badge that gives them authority and the right to take certain liberties away from other regular "humans." Moreover they get to carry a firearm whereas the average citizen can only get a license to carry with so many restrictions, they may as well not carry one at all. I know most of this dept. and some of these "badge toters" are cowboys with the mentality of a ten year old and some are fine upstanding people with moral fibre running throughout their veins. I was an unfortunate "victim of circumstance" by the "long arm of the law." And believe me people, that arm is very long indeed. So long to the point that any one of the "badge toters" can singlehandedly ruin your life with the liberties they take from people. In my opinion, 75% of the people that comprise "law enforcement" are trigger happy cowboys, have short man syndrome and are taking their inadequecies out on the general public, plain stupid (or uneducated), and finally in a way, paralleling short man syndrome, but plain power tripping. I say let them carry their all omnipotent badges and guns but only if you allow me to strap up as well. I have witnessed police overstepping their boundaries on many occasions, even more so at the higher levels of law enforcement (DEA, FBI, special task forces, ATF). YES I SAID I HAVE WITNESSED THIS WITH MY OWN EARS AND EYES. If we entrust a so called "officer of the law" that took a few classes at the local community college with a badge and gun, then everybody with a bachelors degree should have the option of taking a gun safety and basic law knowledge class and be allowed to pack the pistol of their choosing with the same restrictions or "non-restrictions" as a police officer. In my humble opinion, this will level out the injustices we see every day in "positions of authority." A badge and a gun mean nothing if the person toting them have no common sense, principles, integrity, and humbleness. The only thing that has been represented to me is lying to get information, indecency, the overstepping of legal boundaries, and a serious disregard for a decent citizens life in general. Bottom line: they have way too much executable power. So be it, just watch who you try to execute that power upon as some citizens are realizing the situation has gotten so serious that an "officer" might just get "clapped back" (as in applause).
Dave Smith is now working for Red Oak as the Chief Investigator. How could this happen. Almost fired here in our dept. for using video equiptment to record his wife having sex with a black man while he direct it scene by scene. By the way his wife is a school teacher in Palmer, TX.
So, what can be said about Ennis PD? This election for chief of Police is a joke. Who ever wins this election is a loss to the city. How well do you truly know these want to be's. These officers ended up here because no other department wanted to hire them. Trust me, if they could have gone somewhere else they would have! Can you truly trust anyone in this department. This department has old fat guys. They couldn't chase a two legged pig. I bet they could eat one. I am tired of this city Police Dept. They are not fair. We need a major overhaul. It is up to people of this city to make a change. Start with the City Manager. We need a change.
I can not tell you how pleased I am to read about D. Smith. I came to Ennis to investigate the S. Simpson Case. I was also enraged at the violation of the rights of all the other innocent women involved and the inevitable distrust with all of his patients wondering if they had been a victim and did not know it. All I got out of Smith were a couple of drinks, dinner, (thank you tax payers) and elaborate tails of his swinging marriage. Oh he did divulge how badly the hospital had been beaten up- for no reason. I attempted to explain, I had written policies for hospitals and I could not even imagine how such a thing could be possible. He was very easily side tracked about what an excellent football player he once was......Cant wait to see the video. I pray, of course, if he is in them that he is clothed... I thought he was surely fantasizing, I mean really who would want..........never mind.
